Chilled Mirror Analyzer

A common challenge for substation maintenance personnel is to accurately measure the moisture contaminant in SF6 gas. On a previous blog, we introduced Dilo’s versatile Multi-Analyzer, which works with polymer based sensors. These sensors will have accuracies ranging from +/- 2 to 3°C for moisture measurements. But with mirror analyzers, accuracies increases 4 to 6 times. This improvement is very important on critical outdoor assets such as your SF6 circuit breakers.

Dilo Mirror Analyzer.

The SF6 Mirror Analyzer works by utilizing the dew point principle: the cooling of a volume of gas until condensation forms to measure moisture content. As the gas sample passes over the chilled mirror surface, the moisture content of the gas is determined by comparing the temperature of the mirror to the condensation rate of the gas. The chilled mirror technology allows for highly accurate results over a wide range of dew points. Plus, Dilo’s mirror analyzer can measure other parameters of SF6 quality such as SF6 volume percentage (measuring the speed of sound) and SO2 concentration (electrochemical reaction measurement).

Dilo’s mirror analyzer is a portable, compact and lightweight analyzer designed to meet the most rugged environments. It’s Pelican carrying case will protect the analyzer from any impact. It comes with:

  • Multilanguage intuitive 7’’ color touch panel interface

  • Inlet pressure up to 500 psig (eliminates need for external regulators)

  • Zero Emission gas testing principle

  • Field-replaceable sensors

  • Data storage for up to 500 tests

  • Integrated warning system

  • USB and LAN connection for data transfer to Excel spreadsheets

  • Sensor controlled testing (reduces test durations)
