Midal Cables AACSR ( Aluminium Alloy Conductor Steel Reinforced )
/AACSR (Aluminum Alloy Conductor Steel Reinforced) cable is a type of overhead conductor used primarily in power transmission and distribution lines. It is designed to deliver high tensile strength along with good conductivity, making it suitable for long-distance power transmission under high mechanical stress conditions.
Structure of AACSR Cable:
Aluminum Alloy Strands: The outer layers are composed of aluminum alloy, which offers better conductivity than pure aluminum and enhanced resistance to corrosion.
Steel Core: The core of the cable is made of galvanized steel, providing high tensile strength. This steel core is usually stranded to improve flexibility.
Midal Cables’ AACSR is made up of one or more layers of Aluminum-Magnesium-Silicon Alloy wire stranded around a high-strength coated steel core.
The core can consist of a single wire or multiple stranded wires. AACSR is available with a steel core galvanized in Class A, B, or C or Aluminum clad (AW). Additional corrosion protection is provided by applying grease to the core or infusing the entire cable with grease.
Key Characteristics:
High Tensile Strength: The steel core enables the conductor to withstand mechanical stresses such as those caused by wind or ice on overhead lines.
Good Conductivity: While the aluminum alloy provides less conductivity than pure aluminum, it still ensures efficient power transmission.
Corrosion Resistance: The aluminum alloy is more resistant to corrosion compared to pure aluminum, which is critical for outdoor applications.
Extended Span Lengths: The strength of the steel core allows for longer spans between support towers, reducing infrastructure costs.
Durability: AACSR cables are durable and designed to last in harsh environmental conditions.
Applications:
Power Transmission Lines: Suitable for high-voltage overhead transmission lines where long spans and high mechanical strength are required.
Rural Applications: Often used in rural settings where environmental conditions can be demanding.
Industrial Uses: In industrial areas where chemical exposures might corrode other types of cables.
AACSR cables are a reliable choice for utility companies looking for a balance between cost, durability, and performance for their transmission needs.
The conductors are supplied on non-returnable wooden/steel reels or returnable steel reels.
Features:
Offers optimal strength for line design
Improved strength to weight ratio
Ideal for extra long spans with heavy load
Excellent resistance to corrosion
