Composite Power Group has operated as an electrical utility sales representative for over 40 years. We are seeking a proactive and driven Channel Sales Manager to join our Ontario sales team. The role is ideal for individuals who can blend sales and business development aptitude with knowledge of products that electric utility customers purchase from wholesale distributors. Top performers in our business build and grow strong channel partner relationships by facilitating all aspects of day-to-day inquiries and long-term supply agreements. The ideal candidate can also execute long-cycle sales plans that require connecting with and influencing key decision makers throughout our sales team, end-user account contacts, and our channel partners organization, including senior managers, sales reps, customer service, and procurement teams.
In this permanent full-time role, you'll receive a base salary plus commission (no cap), and the base salary will be set based on your experience. The successful candidate will operate out of a home office and must be willing to travel throughout the province, and occasionally into other parts of Canada and the US.
Responsibilities:
Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including senior-level executives, mid-management, sales representatives, customer service, procurement teams, and end-user contacts.
Develop an in-depth understanding of channel partner corporate structure, decision-making processes, sales strategies, and knowledge of primary vendors and their products.
Manage vendor relationships for distributed products, and develop sales targets, pricing structures, rebates, and special long-term agreements. Develop and implement training programs for key products and staff members.
Set sales targets and budgets by vendor, distributor, and region for CPG. Keep a pulse on market levels for key products.
Develop and implement sales channel strategies for each major tender and product group purchased through the channel.
Keep the sales team up to date on changes in the market and trends, new product developments, and best value for customers.
Conduct gap analysis and cross-reference products for growth. This also includes providing new product development ideas to vendors.
Monitor and manage key account strategies, obtain all significant inquiries for utility and contractor work, and understand key long-term agreements in place.
Manage the share shelf space and market share for dual vendor distribution relationships.
Maintain vendor agreements, and renewals, and identify additional opportunities for growth.
Work with the marketing team to develop key initiatives on products, company-relevant content, and product promotion (including vendor presence at industry events and local trade shows).
Travel in support of the Composite Power Group sales team, vendors, and customers, including travel to key vendor facilities for relationships and understanding of operational functions and products available.
Possess the ability to work in SF, O365 (Excel, PP, Word, Outlook), and other relevant software.
Qualifications
Education can come in different ways - we are very open to speaking with candidates that feel they have the skills and capabilities for this position through industry experience. A University Degree or College Diploma in Business or Engineering is preferred (or both!)
An MBA or a professional selling designation is not required but will be considered an asset.1
10 years of sales experience or other relevant industry experience that provides insight into end-user utilities, contractors and understanding of channel strategies. Previous experience working for a wholesale distributor will be considered an asset.
Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, bill of materials, specifications, and industry standards.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 and associated applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
