Copperweld ArcAngel
/ArcAngel is an IEEE-compliant CCS grounding conductor for substation grounding applications where electrical performance is critical, and flexibility is needed while still offering all the benefits of Century products.
Product range: AWG #6 – 500 kcmil (MCM)
Short circuit performance (kA) @ 500 ms: 14 / 28 / 44 / 52 / 73 / 101
Voltage range: 1 kV (Medium) – 800 kV (High)
Construction: 7, 19 or 61 strands of CCS
ArcAngel is designed to replace traditional copper grounding applications with a more flexible version of Copper-Clad Steel (CCS). Thanks to its higher strand count, ArcAngel offers increased mechanical strength. For instance, a 2/0-sized ArcAngel has a higher break load than a common 4/0 copper conductor. This gives substation design engineers new options to explore in software modelling tools like CDEGS v18, allowing for optimizing the cost of a substation ground grid.
ArcAngel CCS is:
A newly designed variation on the classic CCS.
Used for larger diameter bare copper replacement and installation in substation or higher fault current applications.
Designed to replace common sizes of copper used in grounding applications with a more flexible version of traditional CCS.
As an added advantage of the higher strand count, ArcAngel provides greater mechanical strength. 2/0-sized ArcAngel has a higher break load than a common 4/0 copper conductor, which provides substation design engineers with new options to explore in software modelling tools.
Available with or without Fault ID – an indicator strand (green) that changes colour when experiencing a fault. CCS wire with Fault ID indicator is always manufactured with tin plating.
